Our Story

The Buhari Legacy

Born in the heart of Colombo, Hotel De Buhari is the original home of a culinary revolution started by our founder, Mr. A. M. Buhari. For over ten decades, we have defined the art of hospitality, famously perfecting our signature Biryani with a blend of 200 spices and gifting the world the iconic Chicken 65. Today, we invite you to experience the rich heritage and timeless flavours that transformed a local treasure into an international legend.

One of the authentic place where you can have a good dine in experience in colombo. This place is too good for the food they serve, they have a very simple menu and the food is so delicious. We went and had Masala biriyani, which i highly recomend to have here. And the price also so reasonable compared to other biriyani in town. Must visit atleast once if you havent gone there. Also they have a parking space available as well.

After many many years, I went there for lunch. We had the Roast chicken Buriyani. It came with a boiled egg, gravy, minchi sambol and we paid a bit extra for the onion Sambol. Washed it down with an ice cold EGB. We tried the fruit salad/ice cream and also the wattalapam. Both were tasty and plentiful. The upstairs was air conditioned and clean. Service was quick and the waiter was attentive. The total bill was under Rs. 3000. I regret not going there more times.

Their prices are more reasonable than other biriyani restaurants, and they don’t even need extra marketing because everyone knows their quality. I occasionally go to Buhari to have biriyani, and this time I visited after about two years. One thing worth mentioning is that their biriyani taste has remained consistently the same over the years — just as good as before. The price is reasonable, the service is good, and importantly, unlike biriyanis from some other places, it never gives me any gastric discomfort.
